Your data and account

Your Dongu account is deliberately simple: an email address, a password, and the things you have written down. This page covers verifying your email, recovering your password, what Dongu stores, and how to delete everything if you ever want to.

Verifying your email

When you sign up, Dongu sends a verification email to the address you registered. Until you confirm it, the app shows a banner with a resend button — the banner is a reminder, not a lock. If the email never arrives, check your spam folder first, then use resend.

Verifying matters because it proves the address is really yours, and your email address is how you recover the account if you ever lose the password.

Resetting your password

If you forget your password, use the reset link on the sign-in page: enter your account email and follow the link in the message you receive. Reset links expire after a short time, so if yours has gone stale, request a fresh one and use the newest email.

What Dongu stores

Dongu stores what you put into it: tasks and subtasks, categories and tags, habits and their check history, wellness logs, focus sessions, countdowns, shared boards, and the XP history behind your levels and streaks. It also stores your settings — wellness goals and focus durations, for example — so they follow your account.

Conceptually, all of it is yours, and it exists so the app can show it back to you. The privacy policy describes how this data is handled, and the terms of service describe the service around it.

Read-only mode never deletes anything

When a trial ends or a subscription lapses, your account becomes read-only. That is a pause, not a purge: everything stays visible and intact, and subscribing restores full access with nothing missing. The details are in Your trial and subscription.

If you just need a break from the app, you can simply stop using it — an idle account keeps its data.

Deleting your account

Account deletion is handled by support, so it never happens by accident. Send a request to hello@todongu.com or use the contact form, and your account and its data will be removed.

Deletion is permanent, which is exactly why read-only mode exists on the other side of the scale: your data should only ever disappear because you asked for it to.
